Mark Clifton Burdine, 58, Sheridan, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 14, 2020 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus in West Lafayette following a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Born March 3, 1961 in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Clayton and Dorthea (Mutum) Burdine.
He graduated from Marshall High School and would go on to study business at Western Michigan University.
On April 19, 1997 he married the love of his life, Joyce Elaine (Sample). She passed away on July 22, 2015.
Mr. Burdine had the soul of a nomad and was always ready to move on and try something new. He managed a cleaning service for several years before changing careers and seeking new adventures around every corner.
He was a coin collector and enjoyed playing tennis. But he truly exceled in the kitchen. He was a wonderful cook and fancied himself a food connoisseur. His family can attest to his skills in the kitchen. His family was his world.
Survivors include his daughter, Aleah Marie (Jeremy) Johnson of Marshall, Mich.; his grandson, Adrian Ray Johnson; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Sample; his sister Vicki (Mark) Barker of Ingalls; and his canine BFF, Teddy. After Mark’s health started to decline, Teddy went to live with Vicki.
Other than his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Private family services are being planned for a later date.
Kercheval Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
