Kevin Dewayne Alexander, 58, Sheridan, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening, March 3, 2019 in Westfield, Ind.

Born Jan. 3, 1961 in Noblesville, Ind., he was the son of Donald Lee Alexander and Connie G. (Beam) Mason.

After graduating from Sheridan High School with the Class of 1979, he set out on his own. For most of his life he worked as a self-employed roofer, a career that would take all around the United States, and even down to Puerto Rico for a short time.

Mr. Alexander loved sports and passed that love on to his girls. An All-State linebacker during his years as a Blackhawk, he knew the importance of supporting his girls during their years on the field. He loved following whatever sport they were in at the time, especially when it was time for softball. He loved to make people laugh and could be quite the jokester. Much to the chagrin of his daughters, he could also be a little bit too supportive at games. He could also be a little too supportive of his Seahawks as well.

Mr. Alexander loved to travel, and work gave him the opportunity to do just that. He also loved hunting and exploring the great outdoors. He  also had a great love for all his dogs, especially his Rottweiler, Pud.

Survivors include his father, Donald Lee Alexander; his step-mother, Margaret A. Alexander; two wonderful daughters, Katarina A. Alexander of Indianapolis and Kelli M. Alexander of Kokomo; two brothers, Steven Lee Alexander of Fishers and Brad L. (Angela) Alexander of Kokomo;  one sister, Lisa (Mark) Dieter of Rossville; and by his wife, Darvetta J. (Barnett) Alexander.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St. in Sheridan. Family and friends may pay their respects from 4 p.m. until the time of service. Mr. Alexander will be laid to rest at Crown View Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be presented to Kercheval Funeral Home, P.O. Box 42, Sheridan, 46069, to help defray the cost of funeral expenses.
