Dorothy Marie Hammack, 90, Sheridan, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 17, 2018 at Majestic Care of Sheridan.

Born Feb. 27, 1928 in Clinton County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Nellie (Rawlings) Irick.

She graduated from Sheridan High School with the Class of 1946. In 1947 she married Jay Warren Hammack.

Mrs. Hammack worked in the Finance Department at Fort Benjamin Harrison for more than 30 years, retiring in 1988.

She loved keeping her mind active, and her love of reading and crossword puzzles helped do just that.

She was a member of the Sheridan Wesleyan Church.

Mrs. Hammack's family was very important to her.

Survivors include her loving husband, Jay Warren Hammack; three sons, Jeff Hammack of Indianapolis, Roger Hammack of Sheridan and Chris Hammack of Indianapolis; her daughter, Becky (Mike) Aldred of Sheridan; four grandchildren, Andrew (Amy) Aldred of Angola, Diana (Matthew) Aldred Griffin of Westfield, Heather Hammack of Indianapolis and Ryne Hammack of Indianapolis; two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Quinn Aldred, both of Angola; and her sister, Margaret Edrington of Lapel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Hubert "Mike" Irick and Charles "Chuck" Irick; and three sisters, Catherine (Irick) Timberman Hayes, Pearl (Irick) Bragg, and Mary (Irick) Biddle.

No services are being planned at this time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan.
