Cameron Hovey continues to run all over Hoosier football teams this season. After rushing for more than 300 yards in a single game earlier this year, he led the Blackhawks again with 224 yards and five touchdowns in a 65-22 beatdown of Hoosier Heartland Conference foe Taylor Friday night.
Sheridan is the 12th-ranked team in Class A and goes up in size the next two weeks when it takes on Class 2A's Seeger (4-1 overall) and undefeated conference foe Eastern, the 9th-ranked team in 2A.
Last Friday, it was all Hovey. He had touchdown runs of 58 and 19 yards in the first quarter and 33 yards in the second to help Sheridan take a 47-8 halftime lead. Hovey also ran for 8 and 69-yard scores in the second half.
When Hovey wasn’t running freely, Jaylen Herron was. Herron picked up 107 yards and had touchdown runs of 27 and 51 yards.
Gavin Renners an, Peyton Cross also rushed for Sheridan touchdowns. Jaylen Harris tossed a TD pass to Michael Pemberton and Eli Kolb found Evan Grinstead in the end zone on the final play of the game.
Sheridan plays host to Seeger at 7 p.m. Friday.
